Approaching Archer Glen Elementary in Sherwood your nose can’t help it as you salivate over the smell of chicken cooked by the volunteer fire department, elephant ears, pies from Shari’s restaurant, and of course ONIONS!
Once you enter the school tickets are available for food purchases and a raffle filled with tons of awesome prizes including massages, dinner certificates for various restaurants, coffee, t-shirts, and more.
Then head to the kitchen for 1/2 or 1/4 chicken, onion rolls, coleslaw, onion rings, baked beans (sold out this year), and baked onions. Plus you must not forget a slice of pie for $2.00 you can choose from Cherry, Apple, Chocolate Cream, Pumpkin, Rhubarb, Lemon…. I think that’s it. After filling up on amazing food check out the different vendors towards the back of the hall and engage in some archery outside sponsored by the local boy scout troop. Besides all of these activities there was a cooking contest and a live band. Check out the images below to catch a glimpse of the onion festival.
Goodnight Sherwood and have a great rest of your weekend
